TropicanaRoses Talk of Chickens Happy Veggie Garden garden
Hubby is tentatively planning to enclose our veggie garden with chicken wire, and add some chickens to our garden, with one rooster to protect them from our cats. Any thoughts? This would definitely be a first in my garden experience. :)

I’ve been lazy and a poor journaler lately. I plead dissertation (which, btw, was done 2 years ago. but you know how committees are). Anyhoo… We ate my meagre turnip harvest. Like the radishes, they have maggots. The carrots do not have maggots, so they seem to be a brassica-sp...

I just wanted to post some photos of what some of the 2009 Wintersown seedlings look like at the close of the gardening season. I am quite pleased with the progress of just about all of them. A few of them actually bloomed this year, and the rest grew really well. Next year will be very exciting ...

    SneIrish A full cycle 1
The gardens have mostly been put to bed for the winter. Oh, there are a few stragglers still left to turn out the light, but they will soon. November, I think, is my least favorite month. Even with the long stretch of January, there is anticipation and planning. November lies bleak and dreary, br...

This is just a photo update of the status of the Ajuga as of the end of the 2009 growing season. A thorough inspection shows that despite that overgrown grass (that is now growing better than ever since we don’t want it to) the various plants of Ajuga are settling in and surreptitiously spr...

KatPowers Not a great year for gardening, but I'm fruiting 3
It’s been a fruitful year. It rained so much the tomatoes didn’t do much. We had a lot of peas, though. And some of the basil I forgot to water came back due to the rain. The crazy squirrel-feeding neighbor made it so all the broccoli and Brussels sprouts died as the pests dug up ever...

iiixvix African Violet 'Louisiana' repotted. 1 Very Happy African Violet 'Louisiana' Repotted and Houseplants (Uncategorized) garden
I received this plant in a swap sometime in June, and I am just now getting around to writing about it! I’d have pictures, but unfortunately I’ve lost my camera. This plant is doing wonderfully. I managed to grow two plants from one leaf, which I separated into two different pots to...

iiixvix Philodendron Scandens 'Brasil' is growing like crazy! Very Happy Philodendron Scandens 'Brasil' and Houseplants (Trailing/Hanging/Vining) garden
I wish I hadn’t lost my camera so I could take pictures of this plant right now. While most of my other plants seem to be going dormant for the winter, and many of them not really liking the conditions indoors since moving in August, this plant has suddenly begun growing tons of leaves. I&...
